The Role
As a Solution Consultant, you'll be the senior technical point of contact for a portfolio of customers and prospects — from qualified pre-sales opportunities through onboarding and long-term technical account management. Your primary mission: make the technical story credible, clear, and compelling, and ensure customers can successfully build and adopt on AIMMS.

High-impact pre-sales ownership – Directly influence win rates through technical narrative, demos, and trial success — no individual sales quota.
Real solution architecture work – Advise on architectures, integrations, and data/process flows tailored to each customer's stack.
Cross-functional seat at the table – Daily collaboration with Sales, Account Management, Customer Success, R&D, and Support.
Variety and depth – From optimization design discussions to integration guidance, workshop delivery, and escalated support. Apply optimization concepts to real-world customer use cases.
How You'll Make an Impact
You'll own the technical relationship where it matters most: proving fit, reducing risk, accelerating time-to-value, and keeping adoption on track.
Own technical account relationships – Be the senior technical contact for named accounts, staying close to how customers build and adopt AIMMS, and stepping in with a clear action plan when things are at risk.
Define solution architecture & integrations – Guide customers on architecture options, data flows, and integration approaches (APIs, cloud, libraries) tailored to their constraints.
Lead technical pre-sales – Translate requirements into a credible technical proposition, clearly articulate what AIMMS can and can't do, and help drive conversion from opportunity to contract.
Deliver demos, trials & workshops – Tailor demos to specific scenarios, contribute to RFP/RFI responses, and run trial work sessions that support strong decision-making.
Drive onboarding & enablement – Define onboarding plans, deliver training (remote or on-site), and guide customers through their first working application with real business impact.
Support customer success & retention – Surface risks early, run technical success touchpoints, and hand off expansion signals to Account Managers with full context.
Act as internal technical consultant – Be the voice of the optimization application builder, pressure-testing product and roadmap choices against real customer needs.
Handle support tickets (secondary, <20%) – Take on second/third-line tickets related to building optimization apps, coordinating with R&D when needed.
Job requirements
What Will Help You Thrive
~5 years in a customer-facing technical role — Solution Consultant, Technical Consultant, Solution Engineer, or a delivery/consulting background with equivalent skills.
Strong optimization & OR foundation – Comfortable discussing modelling approaches and solver behavior, and able to translate problem statements into solution direction.
Hands-on tool credibility – Experience with optimization solvers and ecosystems (Gurobi, CPLEX, Python, GAMS, FICO, or similar). AIMMS experience is a big plus — and learnable for the right candidate.
Architecture mindset – Able to advise on integration patterns, deployment considerations, and trade-offs without overcomplicating.
Confident communicator – Equally comfortable running demos with developers, workshops with architects, and difficult conversations with business stakeholders.
BSc/MSc in applied mathematics, operations research, industrial engineering, computer science (with strong OR/math), supply chain, or equivalent practical experience.
Nice to have: Supply chain or other complex planning domain experience where optimization drives real business decisions.
You are: Commercially aware, structured, ownership-driven, pragmatic, and genuinely curious about the optimization ecosystem and where it's heading.
